Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards shared a positive update on Karl-Anthony Town’s injury and comeback. After the Timberwolves’ 130-121 win over the Washington Wizards, Edwards revealed that Karl-Anthony was back. The All-Star player has been out of action since March 7 and missed 16 games after he suffered a left knee injury. He was expected to be out of action for seven months after undergoing surgery on March 12; however, it seems that the NBA star could be ahead of schedule and ready for the postseason game.
The Timberwolves announced that KAT has been ‘cleared for full contact, 5-on-5 basketball activities and is progressing toward his return to play.’ Ahead of their game against Wizards, Timberwolves coach Chris Finch said, "We're excited. Always happy and excited about having him back, whenever that is exactly. Amazing job through this part of his rehab up to this point in time. He looks incredible. I know he's excited to go, but we're just not quite there yet."
After the match, Edwards got the fans excited and said, “KAT is back, baby! I feel great. I think the whole team is ready to have him back because we want to get our rhythm back.” Notably, the Timberwolves are currently sitting on top of the Western Conference standings, and they might have a potential matchup against the Nuggets on Wednesday. The Wolves have clinched a top-four seed in the West and will play their first playoff game either on April 20 or 21.
Before the injury, Towns was having one of his best seasons with an average of 22.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists. After their potential Wednesday match, the Timberwolves will have a game on Friday against the Atlanta Hawks and a game on Saturday against the Phoenix Suns.
