Veteran batsman Kedar Jadhav has been named as a replacement for Yuvraj Dodiya in the West Zone squad for the ongoing Duleep Trophy. Jadhav, who has played 73 ODIs for India, was added to the squad after Dodiya was picked for the India A team for the upcoming Emerging Teams Asia Cup.

Jadhav, 38, has been out of favour from the national team since February 2020 and had gone unsold in this year's IPL auction. The all-rounder was later roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore as a replacement for David Willey. Jadhav has a prolific record in first-class cricket, scoring 5721 runs at an average of 48.07, including 16 centuries, in 82 matches.

Dodiya, on the other hand, is a promising young off-spinner from Saurashtra who made his Ranji Trophy debut last year and impressed with 31 wickets in seven matches, including one five-wicket haul and three four-wicket hauls. The off-spinner was rewarded with a call-up to the India A squad for the Emerging Teams Asia Cup, which will be held in Bangladesh later this month.

The Duleep Trophy 2023-24 started on June 28 and the summit clash is scheduled to take place on  July 12. Teams like East Zone, West Zone, North Zone, South Zone, Central Zone, and North-East Zone have been playing against each other for the top honours. West Zone will next take on South Zone on July 12 in Bangalore after drawing the first game with Central Zone.
