Kerala on Tuesday, December 17 announced its squad for the upcoming domestic tournament, the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024. In a notable announcement, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson missing a place in the side raised several eyebrows, especially following his exceptional performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT).

In a prominent move, Salman Nazir was named the skipper of the 19-member side, which included prominent players like Sijomon Joseph, Basil Thampi and Mohammed Azharuddeen. Speaking of Samson, according to several reports, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter missed a place in the side after missing the preparatory camp.
Notably, Samson led Kerala in five out of six SMAT matches, where he scored 136 runs at a strike rate of 149.45. Speaking of Kerala’s Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign, they are placed in Group E, and will face Baroda, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Bengal, Tripura and Bihar, starting from December 23 in Hyderabad.
