While the visitors after winning the toss, opted to put the score first on the board but were bundled out early having scored only 246 runs. Meanwhile, the hosts dominated as they posted 190-run lead, early on Day 3.

Amid this, former England captain Kevin Pietersen urged a move for the Three Lions ahead of Day 2’s play, which went viral. The 42-year-old took X (formerly Twitter) to share some advice for the visitors to let Joe Root bowl the opening over to get early inroads. Going with the advice of the cricketer-turned commentator, Root made a game-changing impact as he dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal early with Pietersen’s foresight coming true.
“Can Joe Root PLEASE bowl first up this morning! He WIL spin the ball!”, Kevin Pietersen captioned a post on X ahead of Day 2’s play.
Meanwhile the hosts posted 421/7 at the end of Day 2 and could only add 15 runs to the scorecard early on Day 3 as they were bundled out at the score of 436 from 121 overs. Moreover, the Men in Blue posted a 190-run lead with England taking the guards in the middle now.
