German goalkeeper Kevin Trapp has committed to his present club - Eintracht Frankfurt despite rumours about interest from Premier League giants Manchester United. The Europa League-winning goalkeeper has been on the Red Devils' transfer radar over the last few days, as a backup for David de Gea.
Reports also suggested that footballing legend and Man United long-term manager Sir Alex Ferguson had recommended the former Paris Saint Germain keeper. Similarly, current Red Devils manager Erik Ten Hag had also requested Trapp’s transfer but with the German’s Instagram post, the deal has fallen through.
Kevin Trapp opened up about how he has experienced some unforgettable moments with Frankfurt and hence wants to continue with the team. He posted, “Dear fans, There have been a lot of reports of interest in Manchester United in the past few days. It is true that there is a written offer. Manchester United is a world club and the fact that I can deal with and think about such an offer, I hope everyone understands.
“Yesterday, however, I informed the person in charge of both clubs that I had chosen Eintracht. I have experienced unforgettable things here with Frankfurt and we made history together. The start to the season has been bumpy, but I have absolute faith in us 💪🦅 Your Kevin.”
But Manchester United has completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro for a reported €60m fee (plus €10m in add-ons) and will sign a four-year deal with the option of a further 12 months. The Real Madrid man has also completed his medical and the process of receiving the work permit.
United’s proposed deal to the 30-year-old is based on their qualification and then competing in the Champions League, along with a substantial raise in his wages. Casemiro has been one of the most experienced, competent and dominant players in recent history.
He could be the player Erik ten Hag needs to uplift this lacklustre United squad. The Brazilian is a five-time Champions League winner and has won three La Liga titles, three UEFA Super Cups, FIFA Club World Cups and Supercopa de Espana trophies, and one Copa del Rey as he etched his name in the history of Real Madrid.
