The World Championship of Legends Season 2 is shaping up to be a blockbuster event, bringing together some of the legendary international cricketers back to the cricketing field. Adding more star power to the tournament, West Indies giants Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard are set to return to professional T20 cricket as part of the West Indies Champions squad. Besides them, the confirmed lineup features an impressive list of cricketing icons, including Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Moeen Ali, Yusuf Pathan, Brett Lee, Shahid Afridi, Irfan Pathan, Dwayne Smith, Sheldon Cottrell, Shoaib Malik, and Sarfaraz Ahmed—setting the stage for a thrilling season packed with nostalgia and high-octane action.
Bravo, who is currently serving as the mentor of defending IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders expressed excitement to represent his country once again. “Last time I left cricket, my body wasn’t prepared for what it could handle. Now it’s imperative that with my full attention on returning to T20 cricket, I stay committed and I perform well," Bravo said. Known for his death bowling skills, DJ Bravo had a great career between 2004-2021, and took 631 wickets over 582 matches.
Dwayne is a true champion: Kieron Pollard
Kieron Pollard, who serving the Mumbai Indians in IPL, is also joining season 2. "Hearing Dwayne coming back to play melts my heart. Dwayne is a true champion, and with the kind of cricketing career he had, one can never argue that he has had it well and given back to cricket a lot," Pollard said, while speaking on Bravo’s return.
Pollard had a great career and played more than 600 matches for different T20 franchises, amassing more than 11,000 runs. He also led the West Indies' white-ball teams from 2019 to 2022 and boasts an impressive career decorated with 15 major titles.
Harshit Tomar, Founder & CEO of the World Championship of Legends, welcomed both stalwarts of West Indies and pressed this addition as a significant change in the second season of the championship. He said, "They will raise the tournament’s profile with their all-rounder skills and captivating demeanor on and off the field."
