With the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) set to commence in a few days time, the cash-rich league has been hit with a setback. Just days prior to the start, defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) scheduled clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Eden Gardens on April 6 might have to be moved out of Kolkata.

However, as of now, no concrete details are available on the same, reports have revealed of schedule complications due to Ram Navami, which is widely celebrated in Kolkata. The match between KKR and LSG is coinciding with the religious festival, posing security challenges for the locals.

As per sources, Kolkata Police has expressed its inability to provide adequate security for the match, raising concern about the event. Seeing the scheduling, officials from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) have engaged in discussions with state’s Sports Minister, Aroop Biswas, who has assured of his support.

It is to be noted that scheduling conflicts are not new to IPL. A similar scene erupted in IPL 2024 when KKR’s match coincided with ram Navami, forcing BCCI to reschedule a few matches.
