Dwayne Bravo, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor, revealed that he messaged Gautam Gambhir a couple of times recently for a few tips ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. The former West Indies cricketer has assumed the role of KKR mentor after the departure of his predecessor Gautam Gambhir, who was a key part of the title-winning season for the franchise in 2024 before taking the Indian head coach role.

Notably, in the IPL 2024, KKR won their third title in their illustrious history in the league after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the one-sided final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. With that, the coaching staff of KKR, including the head coach Chandrakant Pandit and mentor Gautam Gambhir, which led to the latter getting the opportunity to coach the Indian cricket team, and he recently secured them the ICC Champions Trophy glory.

In a report published by PTI, Dwayne Bravo spoke about the prospect of KKR in the IPL 2025, while revealing his attempts at chatting with Gautam Gambhir for some tips. He was quoted as saying, “Unfortunately, we lost some players. But I think GG had his style, I have my style. We're both successful in our own ways. Definitely, I messaged him a few times and stuff. But again, I will be leaning a lot on these guys because they had a successful formula. And it's important that we follow that formula.”

“I think it's going to be disrespectful of me not to try and find out some of the good things he (Gautam Gambhir) did last season. But also, the core of the team is here,” Dwayne Bravo added. Moreover, ahead of the IPL 2025 season, the KKR management made a big decision to appoint Ajinkya Rahane as their captain after releasing Shreyas Iyer last season despite the latter leading them to their third league title.

The IPL 2025 is set to begin on Saturday, March 22, when defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
