On Monday, March 24, star India wicketkeeper-batter and his wife Athiya Shetty welcomed their first child. The couple, who announced their pregnancy last year, welcomed a baby girl. The news was confirmed as Athiya Shetty took to her Instagram handle to announce their child’s birth.
“Blessed with a baby girl. 24.03.2025” Athiya shared a post on her social media handle. While the birth was expected to be at this time of the year, and as a result KL Rahul’s availability for his team’s IPL match was also unpredictable.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Capitals skipper, Axar Patel also was unaware of KL Rahul’s availability for the match. “Obviously, he joined the team. We don't know yet [if he'll play]. Right now we don't know if he is available or not,” Axar Patel was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. However, in the final hour of the IPL 2025 match, Delhi Capitals confirmed that KL Rahul is unavailable for selection, thus missing the team’s home match against Lucknow Super Giants.
