India wicketkeeper-batters, KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel are set to travel to Australia prior to the Indian team’s departure, which is scheduled for November 10. According to several reports, the two wicketkeeper-batters will join the India A squad down under and feature in the second First-Class match, set to be played from November 7 onwards at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne.
According to the reports citing The Indian Express, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee have asked both the players to leave for Australia by Tuesday morning (5 November). In the follow-up, both of them will join the India A squad while the rest of the squad will reach down under in two batches.
Moreover, this decision by the BCCI comes after a shaky batting performance in the recently concluded Test series defeat against New Zealand. It is to be noted that for the first-time ever India registered a series whitewash in three or more Test series at home. Kl Rahul, who featured in the first Test, had a lacklustre outing scoring only 12 runs in the two innings. Whereas Dhruv Jurel only served as Rishabh Pant’s substitute as the latter injured his knee in Bengaluru.
