Veteran Indian spinner, Amit Mishra during his recent interview with Shubhankar Mishra on latter’s YouTube channel, dropped big statements when it comes to Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir or even the controversies which have brewed in a span of a year. While he called out Virat Kohli’s attitude which saw a massive change after he was named the India captain, he also compared Rohit Sharma with Kohli when it comes to both on and off the field moments.

Apart from them, the 41-year-old also spoke of KL Rahul, who currently leads Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League. While speaking about KL’s captaincy record with LSG, he also hinted that the franchise may not retain him as the captain and might look for a better player to replace him at the helm ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.

“It does not matter if he is in the Indian team or not. But a person who has the right mentality for T20s should be the captain. Someone who plays for the team should be captain. I am sure LSG will look for a better captain,” the veteran Indian spinner said in an interview with Shubhankar Mishra on latter’s YouTube channel.

KL Rahul has captained LSG since the franchise came into existence in 2022. Under his captaincy, the franchise made to the playoffs in its first two editions, where they were knocked out by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) respectively.

Sanjeev Goenka was “disappointed” with team’s result: Amit Mishra on KL Rahul-Goenka fight

Speaking during the podcast, the LSG player, Amit Mishra opened up on the rift which took place earlier this year during the IPL 2024, involving KL Rahul. He revealed that Goenka was disappointed with the team’s results, and this led to what was caught on cameras. In the videos which surfaced after LSG’s defeat against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), Goenka confronted KL Rahul, leaving him visibly disappointed.

“He (Goenka) was disappointed. We lost two back-to-back matches very badly. Against KKR, we lost by some 90-100 runs and against SRH, the match was finished within 10 overs. It felt like we were bowling them during a net practice session. If I am so angry about it, will someone who has actually put money into the team not feel angry,” Amit Mishra said while speaking in an interview with Shubhankar Mishra.

“It was not a huge deal. But I later came to know that he said that the bowling was very bad and the team should have shown some fight. It looked like you have completely surrendered. But I feel people and media hyped it a bit,” Mishra added.
