Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul dropped hints on joining Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League. Rahul made his debut in the tournament during the 2013 season for the Bengaluru-based franchise and later moved to SunRisers Hyderabad a year later. After playing for two seasons in Hyderabad, he once again moved to join RCB in 2016. The batter missed the 2017 edition due to injury and was later released by the franchise, after which he moved to Punjab Kings and spent three years (2018-2021) and then Lucknow Super Giants in 2022.
However, after the completion of the 2024 season, speculations of Rahul moving to RCB have been doing rounds due to the controversy that took place in the tournament. During the season, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka had a heated altercation with Rahul after the side lost the match. Even though later Goenka called him family, reports claimed that LSG won’t retain Rahul.
