Following the reports on sacking KL Rahul as the Lucknow Super Giants skipper for the remaining two league games for the franchise this season, a spokesperson for the Lucknow-based franchise has reportedly cleared the air surrounding Rahul’s future and clarified that he will remain as the captain of the team for the remaining matches as well. LSG are currently reeling at sixth place in the IPL 2024 points table with six wins and losses each.

The rumor sparked following the Lucknow Super Giants’ embarrassing loss against the SunRisers Hyderabad by 10 wickets in Uppal, Hyderabad. After the defeat, the Indian keeper-batter was short of words when he was asked to sum up the heartbreaking loss in the post-match presser. He labeled SRH batting as ‘unreal.’

Rahul was also seen facing the severe heat of the owner of the RPG group and Lucknow franchise, Sanjeev Goenka, who was having a long conversation with the 32-year-old Karnataka player. Following that, there were rumors that he might relinquish his captaincy duties for the upcoming matches, but as per the team's spokesperson, Rahul is set to continue as the skipper of the franchise.

According to PTI, the LSG spokesperson said, " There is a five-day gap before the next game against DC. As of now, no decision has been taken but it is understood that if Rahul plans to just concentrate on his batting for the remaining two games, no one would mind."

I’m lost for words: Rahul after a 10-wicket humbling from SRH

KL Rahul was dejected following his team’s nerve-wrenching defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad as he stated he was lost for words. In the post-match presentation, “I’m lost for words. We have watched that kind of batting on TV. But this is unreal batting. Everything seemed to find the middle of the bat. Kudos to their skills. They have worked hard on their six-hitting skills. They didn’t give us a chance to know what the pitch played in the second innings. Was hard to stop them as they teed off from the ball.”
