South Africa found themselves in a strong position by the end of day 2 in the first Test against Bangladesh at Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Mirpur. With the help of Kyle Verreynne’s second Test hundred, the visitors successfully crossed 300 runs after early breakthroughs and took a lead of 202 runs in the first innings. The visitors are currently 101 runs ahead of Bangladesh by the end of day 2.
Bowling first, South Africa bowled Bangladesh out for 106 runs in the first innings on day 1, with Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj and Wiaan Mulder taking 3-3 wickets each. However, South Africa also didn’t get a great start as they lost six wickets for just 108 runs. After that, Kyle Verreyne and Wiaan Mulder took charge of the innings.

After losing early wickets on day 1, Kyle Verreynne and Wiaan Mulder resumed the play for the Proteas on day 2 as the duo put up a partnership of 119 runs for the 7th wicket. Verreynne top scored with 114 runs off 144 balls hitting eight fours and two sixes. On the other hand, Mulder got out after scoring 54 runs off 112 with eight boundaries. For Bangladesh, Tajmul Islam took five wickets, while Hasan Mahmud and Mehidy Hasan Miraz scalped 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
Coming to the bat in the second innings, Bangladesh again got a poor start as the hosts lost two wickets at the score of 4 runs. After that, Mahmudul Hasan Joy (38* off 80) and skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (23 off 49) added 55 runs for the third wicket. Bangladesh were at 101/3 at the stumps on day 2 with Hasan Joy and Mushfiqur Rahim (31* off 26) set to resume the play on day 3.
