On Sunday morning, the Lazio captain and Italian forward Ciro Immobile was involved in an accident in which he crashed his Land Rover Defender car with a tram near the Stadio Olimpico in Rome . During the incident, he was accompanied by his two daughters in the car. Shortly after the accident, Immobile was treated for back and rib injuries in the nearby hospital, while his daughters were reported to be okay.

The official website of Lazio put out a statement regarding the accident and the condition of Ciro Immobile. It read, “The medical staff of Lazio announces that today, following a road accident, the footballer Ciro Immobile reported a sprain trauma of the spine and the compound fracture of the XI right rib.

“Conditions are currently good. The player remains under observation at the Department of emergency medicine directed by Professor Francesco Franceschi of the Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS in Rome.”

According to Immobile’s statement reported in La Gazzetta dello Sport, “The tram ran a red light. Luckily I'm fine, my arm only hurts a little.” At the sight of the accident, there was a person who got severely injured and had to be taken to the hospital immediately. Ciro Immobile was gracious enough to accompany this injured person, ask them about their condition, and see if they were okay.

This accident occurred just a day after Lazio’s 3-0 away win against Spezia in which Immobile put his team ahead by converting a penalty. The victory put the club in second place in the Serie A competition with 8 fixtures remaining. Lazio will play against Torino next at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome this Saturday, April 22.
