Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has etched his name in the history books after he became the all-time minutes leader in the history of the National Basketball Association (NBA), surpassing former Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The 39-year-old achieved the feat during Lakers’ 113-100 win over Sacramento Kings in the final at Golden 1 center on December 20.
LeBron James has now reached the total career minutes of 57,471 after a 34-minute appearance against Sacramento Kings on Friday. On the other hand, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar retired with a long standing record of 57,446 minutes. Turning 40 in the next few days, James is also nearing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record of most field goals in an NBA career.

LeBron James was also overwhelmed by achieving the record of most minutes in the NBA history. Reacting to this, LA Lakers’ star described his experience as a "a pretty cool honor" and reflected on his thoughts after achieving the milestone. "Obviously, anytime I’m linked with some of the greats to ever play this game… it’s pretty cool and very humbling,” James was quoted as saying by The Pinnacle Gazette.
“I mean, obviously you set your mark trying to make things happen during the regular season to prepare for the postseason,” James further said.
Apart from that, LeBron James also shared a post on his social media reflecting on his incredible achievement in NBA history. He shared a picture of himself with a piece of paper with "1 billion mins" written on it. He captioned the post, “Last night became the NBA All-Time Leader in Minutes! Crazy to even think about! Very thankful and blessed! Been a helluva ride. 1 million minutes Wilt style!”
