Leicestershire batter Louis Kimber hit England bowler Ollie Robinson for 43 runs in a record over during a county game. On Wednesday, June 26 (IST), Sussex clashed against Leicestershire in a County Championship Division Two match. With Kimber hitting 43 runs, Robinson recorded the most expensive over in the history of the County Championship.
The Sussex bowler was hit for five sixes, three of which came off no balls, three fours and one single on the fourth day of the match. Kimber hit Robinson’s first ball for a six while going for a four on the second ball which proved to be a no-ball, and as per the rules of County, two runs are added to the total in case of a no-ball.

The next two balls went for a four and a six, respectively whereas the fourth ball also went for a four. When Robinson delivered another no-ball, Kimber responded with a boundary, and when he re-delivered it, the batter went it for a boundary. The sixth ball also turned out to be a no-ball and the batter hit it for a single. In short, the 27-year-old batter hit 43 runs in nine balls.
Owing to Kimber’s brilliant play in the record-breaking over, Leicestershire had reached 191 off 92 deliveries by lunch. They hit 236 runs in 29 overs in the morning session but needed 89 runs to win with three wickets remaining.
