England white-ball skipper Jos Buttler suffered a major setback during his rehabilitation from calf injury ahead of the upcoming tour to West Indies. The wicket-keeper batter has to wait a bit longer to make his comeback as he will not be seen leading England in the upcoming 50-overs series. Notably, England are scheduled to play three ODIs in the Caribbean starting on October 31, followed by a five-match T20I series starting November 10.
In place of Jos Buttler, all-rounder Liam Livingstone will be seen leading England in a three-match ODI series in West Indies later this month. Buttler also wasn’t a part of the home ODI series for England against Australia, which led to Harry Brook getting the responsibility of leading the team. However, Brook won’t be a part of the ODI series due his involvement in the ongoing Test series in Pakistan.
Jos Buttler has to wait for his comeback in white-ball cricket
Jos Buttler suffered a calf injury in preparation of turning up for the Manchester Originals in The Hundred 2024. The wicket-keeper hasn’t played any professional cricket after the 2024 T20 World Cup semi-final against India. However, he was recovering well from the calf injury, but the recent setback has meant that he will have to wait a bit more for his comeback in professional cricket. He is expected to return for the T20I series against West Indies as captain of England.
