The 2022 FIFA World Cup-winning captain from Argentina, Lionel Messi has won almost everything possible in the football world. After winning the Leagues Cup 2023 title with Inter Miami, Messi became the most decorated footballer in the world with his 44th career trophy. However, the Argentine legend has been recently nominated for an undesirable award, which could enrage his fans.

The 36-year-old Argentine has been nominated for the Anger of the Year at the ESLAND Awards 2024 after an outburst last year. For the unversed, the ESLAND Awards is an annual event that honours Spanish-speaking content creators across the world.
Messi was nominated for the award after he burst out at streamer Ibai Llanos on the same night of the 2023 Ballon d'Or ceremony. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on February 17 and 18 in Andorra while the award is determined by public votes.

In October 2023, Lionel Messi won his record eighth Ballon d'Or award and extended his lead to three titles against his arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal (five Ballon d'Or awards). After winning the award, Messi slammed Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos in a viral video.
