To mark the glorious victory at the FIFA World Cup last year, Argentina defender Nicolas Otamendi unveiled a special tattoo of legendary playmaker Lionel Messi, his fellow teammate and captain. The pic for his tattoo was the moment when Lionel Messi touched the World Cup trophy for the first time after Argentina beat France in a dramatic penalty shootout in Qatar last year.

Messi's picture was accompanied by the three trophies that Argentina won in the last few months, including the Copa America, the Finalissima, and the World Cup.

Shortly after the reveal, Lionel Messi shared the reel on his Instagram account and wrote the following words in appreciation of his teammate Nicolas Otamendi. "I've seen a lot of spectacular things that were made of me about the (World) cup, but that a colleague, a friend like Nicolas Otamendi gets this tattoo is something more than special."

Following this special message from Lionel Messi on Instagram, Nicolas Otamendi was full of admiration for his Argentina captain and quoted as saying, "The things you've seen are nothing compared to the things we see when playing alongside you. You are not only a whole country, you [also] are the history of this sport. I love you, my friend."

Nicolas Otamendi contributed massively to Argentina’s World Cup triumph in Qatar last year as he played every minute of every game in the tournament. He and Lisandro Martinez became the key defensive pairing for the South American nation as they won the biggest prize in football for the first time in 36 years.

Some of the other Argentina players who got inked following the FIFA World Cup win are Lionel Messi, Angel De Maria, Emiliano Martinez, Nicolas Tagliafico, Leandro Paredes, and Alejandro Gomez.
