The Women’s Premier league (WPL) kicked off in 2023 and following the three years of the prominent league, it can be said the tournament has satiated its fans with blockbuster cricketing action. With cricket’s rules and regulations inclined towards batters, watching bowlers performing extraordinarily is a treat to eyes for the sport’s buffs nowadays.
After watching WPL thus far, their supporters have witnessed some marvellous bowling shows which brought joy to their faces. Back in 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the coveted trophy and became the second WPL title-winning side. In their success, Ellyse Perry played the key role with her all-round skills. In the do-or-die game against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Delhi, she bagged 6/15 figures in her four-over spell and registered the best bowling figures in the league. The Australian’s bowling helped RCB emerge victorious.
Before Perry, Marizanne Kapp owned the feat with her 5/15 (four overs) for Delhi Capitals (DC) against Gujarat Giants (GG) at the DY Patil Stadium in March 2023. Asha Shobhana is also in the record books with her 5/22 for RCB against UP Warriorz (UPW) in February 2024. Tara Norris (5/29 in four overs) and Kim Garth (5/36 in four overs) also clinched fifers for DC and GG respectively in the inaugural season.
