Former India captain and star batter Virat Kohli opened up on hugging Naveen-ul-Haq and Gautam Gambhir, which put an end to their heated IPL 2023 controversy. The former RCB captain was at a Puma event where he spoke about how people got disappointed when he hugged the Afghanistan pacer and former LSG mentor. Notably, Kohli engaged in a verbal back-and-forth with Gambhir and Naveen in the previous edition of the IPL.
However, the star batter ended the feud in the ODI World Cup 2023 by shaking hands with the Afghan cricketer. Later, during the clash between RCB and KKR in the 2024 season, Kohli and Gambhir ended their differences by hugging each other. The incidents came as surprises for the Indian fans who were waiting for more drama to take place.
The former RCB captain spoke about the same and jokingly took a dig by saying, “Log bahot disappoint ho gaye hain mere behaviour se. Naveen ke saath maine jhappi daal li, fir Gauti bhai ne aake mujhe jhappi daal di. Tumhara masala khatm ho gaya toh ooohhh kar rahe ho. Bacche thodi na hai. (People are very disappointed by my behaviour. I hugged Naveen and then Gauti Bhai (Gautam Gambhir) hugged me. There’s no more drama left for you. We aren’t kids.)
Notably, Kohli has maintained his form in the IPL 2024, and in the games for his side, the modern-day batting icon contributed 21, 22, 83*, 22, and 113* runs, respectively.
