In a major turn of events from the world of NBA, the Los Angeles Lakers have traded D’Angelo Russell, Maxwell Lewis, and three future second round draft picks to Brooklyn Nets in exchange for acquiring the services of Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton. This is the second time in his career that point guard D’Angelo Russell has been traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Brooklyn Nets, which came as a shock to many despite his impending departure from the West coast.

D’Angelo Russell was relegated to the bench role just 10 games into the ongoing NBA season under the Los Angeles Lakers coach JJ Redick after he put up averages of 12.4 points and 4.7 assists. With that, it was highly likely that the 28-year-old was destined to get traded, and in exchange, the Los Angeles Lakers brought in 3-and-D player Dorian Finney-Smith, while they also bolstered their bench in the offensive side of things with Shake Milton.

Jordi Fernandez will be working overtime to ensure that D’Angelo Russell forms a dynamic partnership with Cam Thomas

After joining forces with Anthony Davis and LeBron James at the Los Angeles Lakers last year, D’Angelo Russell was expected to take his game to the next level, but it wasn’t the case. Slowly but surely, his playing time went down in the secondary role off the bench, leading to lowest averages of scoring his entire NBA career, but now, at the Brooklyn Nets, he will get the chance to kick-start the new phase in his journey.

Jordi Fernandez will be working overtime to ensure that D’Angelo Russell forms a dynamic partnership with small forward Cam Thomas, to help them surge into the top eight of the NBA Eastern Conference standings as the business picks up. With that, he could also find a way to nail his second All-Star section since the Eastern Conference is currently riddled with a lot of big player injuries.

D’Angelo Russell could easily be on the similar path to Dennis Schroder, the prior starting point guard at the Brooklyn Nets, who has also managed to revitalise his career at the Golden State Warriors recently.
