Lankan Premier League conducted an auction for the first time ahead of its fourth season which would start on 31st Jul 2023. The auction of LPL was planned by keeping the IPL format auctions in mind where the players will be divided into capped and uncapped players.

The base price for the capped player will be between $10,000 to $50,000, while an uncapped player who has played more than 50 FC games would get a base price of $20,000. Uncapped players who played a minimum of 25 FC games or 18 franchise T20 league matches will register themselves for a base price of $10,000. Uncapped players who don't meet the above two criteria can register themselves for a base price of $5,000.

Each team was allowed to have a squad size of 20 to 24 players, and a minimum of six overseas players is mandatory for each team.
