Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spinner Digvesh Rathi, who bowled incredibly against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Ekana Stadium in the 16th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, has credited Sunil Narine for the former’s disciplined show at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Against his team’s 12-run win against MI, the leg-spinner played an instrumental role with the ball. The spin wizard clinched 1/21 figures in his four-over spell and became the recipient of the player of the match (POTM) award. Defending 203 runs successfully, LSG restricted MI to 191 runs and bagged their second victory in the competition.

Following the game, Digvesh expressed glee at the post-match conference and revealed his source of inspiration for the magnificent bowling against Mumbai. "I'm really enjoying it. I like to get batters out. I watched Sunil Narine bowl and from that time I took to bowling. I want to make my mindset more attacking, want to be like Narine, on how he stays calm even during pressure situations," said Rathi after the match. He delivered the much-needed breakthrough to his side during MI's innings, getting rid of dangerous Naman Dhir, who had amassed 46 runs briskly in just 24 balls.

Rathi also divulged how he planned Dhir’s dismissal. "Before that over, I spoke to you, we wanted a mid-wicket but we did not have one, he looked to play through there and that move really worked for us," added Rathi in his interview.

LSG will next take on Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025 on April 8

LSG’s next challenge will be against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens on April 8. Lucknow’s biggest headache is their captain Rishabh Pant’s miserable form with his bat. With his dismissal against MI, he failed to surpass a double-digit score for the third time in the tournament.

Against Mumbai, he came to bat at number four and scored only two off six. After four outings, the 27-year-old has now scored only 19 runs at a horrendous average of 4.75. Against KKR, the left-handed batter will be under immense pressure to deliver an effective knock to his side.
