Just a day ahead of the South Africa versus India T20I series, the Proteas Men have been handed a major blow as their star pacer has been ruled out of the three-match series. Lungi Ngidi, who was part of the squad for the ODI World Cup 2023 in India will miss the T20I series after a reported injury.

 

The 27-year-old has been released from the squad after he sustained a left lateral ankle sprain and will undergo rehabilitation under the South African medical team. While the left-arm seamer is not a part of the three-match ODI squad, his fitness will be assessed ahead of the two-match Test series, set to be played later this month and earlier in January 2024. 

Beuran Hendricks named Ngidi's replacement for T20I series


Following Lungi Ngidi’s injury, Cricket South Africa has named Beuran Hendricks has his replacement. The 33-year-old made his T20I debut in 2014 and ha featured in 19 matches, scalping 25 wickets so far.

 

It is to be further added that both Temba Bavuma and Kagiso Rabada have been rested for the white-ball series against and will mark their return in the two-match Test series.
