On Sunday, April 6, Mohammed Siraj, the Indian fast bowler, delivered a stellar performance on the field, to help play a key role in Gujarat Titans’ (GT) seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, which is his home ground, the 31-year-old broke the back of SRH top order, and for that, he received the player of the match award.
For the unversed, after winning the toss, Shubman Gill, the captain of GT, decided to field first, and his decision proved to be correct as Mohammed Siraj dismissed the highly destructive opening pair of SRH, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma cheaply. In the death overs, he returned to pick up the key wicket of Aniket Verma before castling tailender Simarjeet Singh, to register figures of 4/17 in four-over quota, ensuring that the opposition could only reach 152/8 total in their allotted 20 overs.
In the run chase, GT lost early wickets of Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler, but the likes of captain Shubman Gill (61* off 43), Washington Sundar (49 off 29), and Sherane Rutherford (35* off 19), to take their over the line with 20 balls to spare. After winning the player of the match award, Mohammed Siraj was spotted talking in front of the camera about his performance, and the video of which was shared by GT on their official X account.
