The day two of the first Test match in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series belonged to the Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, who stitched together a three-figure stand in the second innings versus a potent Australian bowling attack. After both the teams were skittled out in their first innings, the Indian opening pair batted exceptionally well as the pitch at the Optus Stadium in Perth started to ease out, which brought the social media platform X on glued.
In the morning session on day two, India managed to pick up the last three wickets of Australian first innings, to dismiss them for 104 after being bowled out on day one for 150. Despite the lead of 46 runs, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul were under the pump, so to speak, to play out the lethal first spell from the Australian pace bowling trio of Mitchell Starc, captain Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood in their second innings.

Jaiswal, who was dismissed without troubling the scorers on day one, managed to stay at the crease despite some iffy moments, while Rahul looked quite assured in the middle, continuing from where he left off in the first innings, given out controversially on DRS. After batting together for 229 deliveries, the Indian opening pair brought up the 100-run stand, the first such partnership in a Test for the Men in Blue on Aussie soil in 20 years.

After Yashasvi Jaiswal completed his fifty, KL Rahul reached the same milestone, to put India in a commanding position in the first BGT Test. As of this writing, India have reached 169/0 after 54 overs in their second innings with Jaiswal (89* off 188) and Rahul (61* off 139), to lead Australia by a margin of 215 runs with all their wickets in hand as the close of play on day two approaches.
