On Sunday, August 25, Manchester United reportedly reached an agreement worth £25.4 million to transfer Scott McTominay to Napoli in the Serie A. Although, it is important to note that the Scottish international is yet to agree personal terms with Napoli, and that’s why his move to the Italian club isn’t a done deal as of yet.

Notably, earlier this month, Manchester United reportedly rejected a £20m bid from Fulham for Scott McTominay, deeming it insufficient. But now, the Athletic reports that Manchester United are happy to sell the Scottish international to Napoli, who stepped up on the Fulham bid by £5.4 million.

In the ongoing 2024-25 season of the Premier League, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has used Scott McTominay off the bench against Fulham and Brighton.

During the ongoing summer transfer window, Manchester United have been quite desperate to add Paris Saint-Germain star Manuel Ugarte into their ranks, but the financial constraints have been an issue for them. To comply with the PSR rules of the Premier League, they need to offload a few players to sign the Uruguayan international, and that’s why the homegrown Scott McTominay, who is in the final year of his current contract, could end up leaving the English club.

If Scott McTominay joins Napoli, he will be partnering up with his Scottish teammate Billy Gilmour in Antonio Conte’s squad for the ongoing season of the Serie A.
