Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan played a crucial knock of 69 in Mumbai Indians’ (MI) second win of the season. The young batter, who has been in limelight for not so good reasons, was dropped from the BCCI Central Contract list after missing the Ranji Trophy matches despite warnings from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

After MI’s second win on the trot in the IPL 2024, Kishan was finally asked about his time off from cricket. Responding to the controversy, the Indian keeper-batter finally responded adding, “I was practicing. When I took time off from the game, people were talking a lot. Many things came on social media. But, you should also realize that many things are not in the hands of the players.”  Check the top betting trends on the  best betting sites in India  and apps.

Highlighting his experience of taking time off and introspecting his skills, Ishan further added, “The only thing you can do is utilise the time properly. Also, the mindset to think about the previous Ishan Kishan, I would never leave a delivery in the first two overs even if they are bowling well. With time, I have learnt that even 20 overs is a big game, you can take your time and you can go ahead.”

The 25-year-old also spoke of MI’s shaky start to the tournament after they went on to lose three matches on the trot, before sealing their maiden of the season in the game against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.  Speaking after MI’s seven-wicket win over RCB on Thursday, Kishan added, “Even though we have lost matches, we want to work together as a team. Changes have come like even if I am not performing and if I know someone else is not performing, I talk to them. I want to know what they are thinking.”

Ishan Kishan has been MI’s highest run- scorer with 161 runs in five innings. While his highest score of 69 came against RCB, he boasts of a strike rate of 182.95 and an average of 32.20. The Hardik Pandya-led side will next play reigning champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 14.
