Australia's all-rounder Marcus Stoinis gave shocking retirement news from the ODI career, ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025. He called for his retirement immediately, and said that he will continue focusing on the T20I format for the national team. Stoinis was named to Australia's preliminary 15-man team for the ICC Champions Trophy ODI event, which begins in Pakistan and the UAE later this month, but he will be replaced in the final squad, which will be announced on February 12. He is currently playing for Durban's Super Giants in the ongoing South African T20 team. However, he ended up having a mild hamstring injury during bowling. Stoinis made his ODI debut in 2015 and played 71 matches.

In a statement released under the Cricket Australia official press release, Stoinis said, "Playing ODI cricket for Australia has been an incredible journey, and I’m grateful for every moment I’ve had in the green and gold. Representing my country at the highest level is something I’ll always cherish. "This wasn’t an easy decision, but I believe it’s the right time for me to step away from ODIs and fully focus on the next chapter of my career. I’ve got a fantastic relationship with Ron (Australia men's team coach Andrew McDonald), and I’ve hugely appreciated his support," he further quoted. In the following listicle, we will have a look at three players who could replace Marcus Stoinis in Australia's Champions Trophy 2025.
