Ahead of 2023 season of the Formula One edition, some major announcements have already been made. While the driver's line-up for the 2023 edition is more or less complete with just two vacant positions, the schedule of the calendar year is also out.
Amid all this, a major development from Singapore has come in. T he Marina Bay Circuit is set to undergo changes in its track layout ahead of their race in 2023. Singapore is set to host the 2023 race on September 17 after completing a race at Monza. According to the release by F1, redevelopments around Turn 16 and 19 of 2022 layout will now become one long 397.9m, thus reducing the total number of corners from 23 to 19.
However, these changes still remain on the approval by FIA and Bay Granstand, if it goes as per the announcement - the circuit length will be reduced from 5.063km to 4.928km. This will also lead to the increase in laps from 61 to 63 in the Grand Prix.
Red Bull’s Sergio Perez won the 2022 Singapore Grand Prix. The Mexican driver took the lead on the run to Turn 1 and continued to hold to this position till the end of the race. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finished second and third respectively to finish at the podium.
