Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently took to Threads to reveal that he was ready to move on from talks for a fight with Elon Musk. The Twitter CEO has repeatedly dodged attempts by Zuckerberg to set up a fight seriously and has cited numerous reasons for the same. Recently it seemed like the fight was going to go ahead in Italy, as Musk revealed, though another medical issue has forced it to be rescheduled for months as the Twitter CEO claimed that he required minor surgery in his shoulder. Zuckerberg, who seems frustrated with Elon and claimed that the Twitter CEO was never actually serious about fighting in the first place and that he prefers to compete in the sport against real fighters from now on.
It is no secret that Mark Zuckerberg is a passionate student of Jiu Jitsu, the Facebook founder recently won medals at a meet in California. On the other hand, while there are some reports that Elon Musk is a capable fighter, notably from podcaster Lex Fridman, it is unlikely that he is on the same level as Mark Zuckerberg is at the moment. Coupled with injury issues and concerns, the South Africa-born billionaire has repeatedly stalled on setting a fixed date and time for the event. According to Mark Zuckerberg, a real date and organized fight was offered to Elon Musk but was turned down.
Zuckerberg said, “I think we can all agree Elon isn't serious and it's time to move on. I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity. Elon won't confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead. If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I'm going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.”
Musk said he would fight Zuckerberg in Palo Alto
Elon Musk first started the idea of a cage fight between the two high profile CEOs in June of this year, through a series of tweets. The two billionaires had been feuding online for an extended period of time before the fight was discussed.
Recently, Musk stated that he was in Palo Alto and would fight Zuckerberg in his own octagon. Many have claimed this is deflection because Elon does not want to fight Mark Zuckerberg in a by-the-book MMA cage fight. Despite having a height and weight advantage over Mark Zuckerberg, Elon is older and less mobile. On the other hand, Mark Zuckerberg has been actively practicing MMA and has taken on high profile coaches and MMA fighters to guide him, including Israel Adesanya.
