After a six-month internal investigation into his conduct, Premier League giants Manchester United parted ways with forward Mason Greenwood following a mutual agreement between the two parties. After the Red Devils' statement on Greenwood, reports have emerged about the 21-year-old English star's potential destination this season.

The rape and assault charges over Greenwood were discontinued by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in February 2023, after the key witness withdrew their involvement in the matter, leading to no realistic prospect of conviction. Following the judgement, many sports-related public figures expressed their displeasure with Greenwood's return to Man United, seemingly forcing the club to break ties with the forward.

Earlier reports suggested that Serie A giants Roma and Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq are interested in signing the English forward. If the Roma rumours are true, Greenwood will reunite with his former boss at United, Jose Mourinho, who brought him to the first-team training. Apart from Roma, the youngster is also linked with a move to Saudi Arabia following the footsteps of many European stars, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Neymar among others.

Ahead of his move to Saudi, Greenwood's past comments on the Portuguese star re-emerged, where he suggested that Ronaldo's career is finished by calling him 'dead' during his time at Real Madrid. According to The Sun, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner was furious with the youngster's comment and has urged Saudi Pro League bosses not to bring him to the Middle East.

The report by the news outlet stated, "(Ronaldo) He was really annoyed at what Greenwood said. But he has good reason to be when you consider what Ronaldo has achieved in his career and where Greenwood finds himself.

“Greenwood had his nose put out of joint when Ronaldo signed for United because he ended up playing a lot less than he had hoped for, so their relationship was difficult.  Ronaldo is treated as royalty in Saudi and what he says goes.  He would have enough influence there to kibosh clubs from signing Greenwood if he wanted to.”

Considering these factors, Greenwood's potential destination can also lead him to leave Europe as there's a possibility of him joining the Major League Soccer. However, the former United star can also move to Turkey as a number of  Super Lig clubs   reportedly made loan enquiries back in March when the country's transfer window was still open.
