Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has been named the club’s Player of the Year for the 2020-21 season. The Blues had a phenomenal season across all tournaments in 2020-21. With 2 games remaining in the Premier League, Chelsea will look forward to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League points table, ahead of facing title winners Manchester City in the Champions League final. The 22-year-old is the youngest player since John Terry in 2001 (21 years) to win the Player of the Year award for Chelsea. Additionally, Mount has become the first Chelsea Academy graduate to win the award since John Terry last won it in 2006.

Mount’s remarkable run under Tuchel in 2020-2021

The English midfielder has looked unstoppable under Thomas Tuchel, making a whopping 51 appearances for Chelsea this season, with 3 games remaining across all tournaments. Mount has managed to score 9 goals and 8 assists for the club, but his contribution in the midfield for the Blues has been far more than scoring goals.

Chelsea laud Mount, call him a ‘worthy winner’ 

The Premier League club took to social media to congratulate the club’s winner for being voted as the Player of the Year .“A worthy winner of the 2020-21 Men’s Player of the Year. Congratulations Mason Mount” the club wrote.

The Blues are currently placed at 4th position in the points table. But they have two crucial Premier League games remaining against Aston Villa and Leicester City. Tuchel’s men will look forward to wrapping up their season with a top-four finish, before facing Manchester City in the Champions League Final at Estádio do Dragão in Porto on May 29.
