The Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors set a new NBA record as the former side took down their counterparts 143-133 at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Both sides combined to hit a total of 48 3-pointers in the game, and surpassed the previous created record of 44 three pointers which was set by Sacramento Kings and LA Clippers in February 2023, and was tied by the Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns. During the game, the Warriors scored 27 three-pointers, which is the most ever made by a team in their loss.
Not only this, but it was also the most three-pointers the Warriors made in their history. In addition, Mavericks’ star Luka Doncic came up with a triple-double with 45 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds. The 25-year-old made 16-of-23 shots from the floor, which included 6-of-11 three-pointers, and added three steals and two blocked shots leading to his career’s ninth 40-point triple-double. The Mavericks had dominated early and scored 46 points in the first quarter, which further extended to an 81-74 lead at the half-time.
Klay Thompson hits 7 of 11 three-pointers, finishes with 29 points
During the game, Klay Thompson, who returned to Bay Area to clash against his old team, hit 7 of 11 three pointers for the side. The Mavericks’ guard received a thundering applause from the home crowd during the announcement of the lineup. This was Thompson’s second game against his previous side, who drafted him with the 11th pick in 2011.
Expressing his excitement on his return, Thompson said, "It was very surreal. Because I was 21 years old when I came here and to see The City and The Town is always special. So many good memories." As of Dallas’ latest win, they are now at 12-2 streak, while the Warriors have slumped after a 12-3 start and dropped to eighth of their past 10.
