The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have been jolted with a massive blow with their star pace sensation Mayank Yadav likely to miss remainder of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Reckoned to be one of the picks of the IPL 2024, Yadav missed a couple of matches for LSG after sustaining a side strain.

However, he returned in match against Mumbai Indians, but his stay in the middle was cut short, forcing him to return off the field after bowling just 3.1 overs. According to recent reports, the pace sensation is suspected to have suffered an abdominal muscle tear in match against MI, likely ruling him out of IPL 2024.

With reports around Mayank Yadav missing IPL 2024, a PTI report claimed that he “might just” be able to return if LSG reach playoffs. “Mayank has a tear but it is more likely a grade 1 tear. It will be cutting it fine but in case LSG qualifies for the play-offs, he might just be able to play the knock-out games. But it is like hoping against hope and right now he is doubtful for the remaining IPL games,” a BCCI source informed PTI on the condition of anonymity.

The KL Rahul-led LSG are placed third in the IPL 2024 standings with six wins and four losses from 10 matches. However, they are placed in the top four, they need to win at least two matches to ensure their playoffs qualifications. The LSG will next take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2024 Match 54 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday, May 5.
