Indian all-rounder Axar Patel revealed that his hand was broken while celebrating Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant's birthday at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Patel suffered major injuries in the Super 4s stage of the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka.

In that fixture in Colombo, Patel hurt his hamstring and was also hit on his arms by unforeseen throws from Bangladeshi players. With the pertinent issues, Patel missed out on his chance to represent India in the ongoing World Cup. Hence, the Delhi Capitals star has been recovering at the NCA and was seen celebrating Pant's birthday.

Axar Patel was spotted talking about his injured hand in Pant's Instagram story when the duo were trying to rub cake on Team India Physiotherapist, Nitin Patel. Check out the video here:

Coming back to Axar Patel's injury, BCCI released a statement ahead of the World Cup confirming the all-rounder's absence. In a media release via ICC that said,  "Axar Patel has failed to recover in time for the World Cup after sustaining a left quadriceps strain during India’s Asia Cup Super Four encounter against Bangladesh. The spin-bowling all-rounder missed the final of the Asia Cup as a result."
