India veteran  Ishant Sharma  has been sitting outside of the team for a long time now. The star fast-bowler played his last Test in 2021 against New Zealand, whereas it’s been around 10 years, the 34-year-old played T20I game for India and seven years since an ODI game. Several emerging names ousted the Delhi boy,  and it seems as if his wait to don the Indian jersey isn’t ending anytime soon. Sharma made his commentary debut earlier this year, and is currently a part of one of the commentary panels of  WI vs IND second Test . While commentating for the game, the India fast bowler dropped hints towards his retirement.

Sharma was a part of the commentary panel, along with Zaheer Khan and  Aakash Chopra . During the 71st over of the second Test, Aakash Chopra asked Sharma if he would step onto the field to modify his big numbers that he scored during his tenure in the Indian jersey.

Responding to it, Sharma smiled and said, “Nahi, meri body ab mera saath nahi deti hai. (No, my body doesn’t support me anymore)” It clearly means that the 34-year-old cricketer has made up mind to draw curtains on his cricket career and can announce the decision soon. Notably, Sharma last played Test cricket in 2021 against New Zealand.

Notably, Sharma got his Test cap in a game against Bangladesh in May 2007, and went on to play 105 Tests, and pulled 311 wickets. A month later, in June 2007, Ishant made his ODI debut in a game against the Kangaroos. Having played 80 ODI games, Ishant took 115 wickets in the limited-over format. Sharma made his Ranji Trophy debut for Delhi at the age of 18, and got into the shortest format in February 2008, having eight wickets under his name.
