The MI Cape Town had a dismal outing in the inaugural edition of the South Africa T20 league, SA20 2023. The Rashid Khan-led side ended their campaign in the league stage, finishing at the bottom of the six-team points table with only three wins from 10 matches, securing 13 points in total.

However, this season, which kick starts on January 10, the side will aim to overturn their fortunate as they take on Durban Super Giants in their tournament opener at Kingsmead on January 11. The MI Cape Town on Wednesday, 27 September picked their remaining player at the Player Auction, completing their roster for the 2024 season.
While the side added Connor Esterhuizen as their rookie player, the MI-owned side also made a big announcement. The side cleared that West Indies hard-hitter Kieron Pollard will don the MI Cape Town colours in absence of Rashid Khan in the first three matches of the SA20 2024.
