The fight for the Women's Premier League 2024 playoffs intensified with Ellyse Perry inspiring the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women to beat Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians Women by seven wickets on Tuesday. In the WPL 2024 match no. 19, Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry dismantled MI Women's batting lineup as RCB bowled out MI on 113 runs in 19 overs.
RCB Women won the toss and decided to bowl first with Ellyse Perry wreaking havoc at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The 33-year-old Aussie picked up six wickets, giving away just 15 runs in her four overs. Perry was involved in dismissing the first seven wickets as she picked six wickets while she caught opener Hayley Matthews out on Sophie Devine's delivery.
Sajeevan Sajana scored the highest runs for MI-W as she smashed five fours and a six in her 30-off-21 innings followed by Hayley Matthews 26-off-23 with two fours and sixes each. Wicketkeeper-batter Priyanka Bala scored an unbeaten 19 runs as Mumbai lost all 10 wickets with one over remaining.
While chasing the target, RCB lost their first three wickets in the first seven overs, however, Ellyse Perry continued her brilliant form, this time with the bat. Perry stayed on the crease and guided RCB to a six-wicket win over MI and consolidated their spot in the WPL 2024 playoffs. The Aussie all-rounder scored an unbeaten 40-off-38 to help the RCB reach the target in 15 overs.
