South Africa will be taking on India in the T20 World Cup 2024 Final on Saturday, June 29 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. While the Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue will eye to end their ICC trophy drought, having won their last title in 2011 in ODI World Cup, which came under MS Dhoni’s leadership.
On the other hand, the Protea Men will be making their maiden appearance in the final of T20 World Cup history. They are coming into the finals after beating the likes of defending champions England and two-time champions West Indies. But ahead of the summit clash of the tournament, former England cricketer Michael Vaughan made his bold prediction for the team to win the title.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Vaughan wrote, “I feel if India get the job done today they are going to go on a trophy winning spree.. they have so much quality in an out of this squad.. Its been 10 yrs since they won a trophy and this could lead to quite a few over the next years.. #T20WC2024Final.”
Both South Africa and India have been unbeaten in the tournament so far. The Rohit Sharma-led side dominated their Group A standings, beating USA, arch-rivals, Pakistan, Canada and Ireland. They then went onto beat heavyweights like Australia and England in the Super 8 and semifinal to enter the final. Whereas, South Africa, escaped narrow margin wins over their opponents during their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign, but also beat the likes of West Indies in the Super 8 to enter the final.
