Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan, on Day 3 of the ongoing fourth Test between India and England in Ranchi, slammed the DRS technology after Joe Root’s dismissal. Root, who remained unbeaten at 122 in the first inning, had to depart after having scored only 11 runs off 34 deliveries.
This time, his dismissal raised several questions with one of the prominent cricketer-turned commentators, Michael Vaughan also questioning the technology. Elaborating more on Joe Root’s dismissal, Ashwin hit Root on the pads, but the on-field umpire did not raise his finger. Unhappy with this decision, India was quick to go with a review and the replays showed three reds and the umpire had to reverse his decision.
Vaughan was quick to analyse Root’s dismissal and said that the ball had pitched outside the leg-stump and Root should not be given out. “That looked a shocker for the technology .. more than half the ball was outside leg stump yet it came up Red!!!!!!! Hawkeye is having a average series,” his tweet read, which he deleted later.
After deleting the previous tweet, Vaughan dropped another one. “Interested to know why we haven’t seen many replays of the Root dismissal …. Surely it’s the main moment of the innings so far we should be seeing it a lot more … Asking for a friend… #INDvENG,” he wrote.
To conclude his say, the 49-year-old also shared an explanatory image, explaining the pitching zones in cricket, writing, “You can all make your own minds up….”
Speaking of the ongoing Test match, after 50 overs England’s scoreboard read 142/8 with the side taking a 188-run lead.
