The Major League Cricket (MLC) is set to make history as the first professional franchise cricket league in the United States. One of the most exciting teams in the league is the Los Angeles Knight Riders, which is backed by the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team, on Monday, July 10 announced that West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine will be their captain and marquee player for the inaugural season.

Narine is one of the most successful players in T20 cricket, having won two IPL titles with Kolkata Knight Riders and four Caribbean Premier League titles with Trinbago Knight Riders. The all-rounder is also a prolific wicket-taker and a dangerous hitter, with 163 wickets and 1046 runs in the IPL.
"I've always spoken about wanting to represent the Knight Riders wherever they play," Narine said in a Knight Riders release. The all-rounder continued, "We've long talked about coming to the United States and I'm glad it's finally happening. As captain of this side, I am looking forward to the challenge. There are a lot of experienced guys in this team who I can bounce information off, so it will be an exciting time for us. We hope for all Knight Riders fans in America to come out and support us, and all those around the world to keep cheering for us."

Narine will lead a talented squad that includes USA national players such as Ali Khan, Steven Taylor, and Unmukt Chand. The team also features Lockie Ferguson, Jason Roy, Rilee Rossouw, Martin Guptill, and Adam Zampa among other international names. The Shahrukh Khan-owned side will be coached by Phil Simmons who will be assisted by Bharat Arun as the bowling coach and Ryan Ten Doeschate as the assistant coach.
The Los Angeles Knight Riders will aim to replicate the success of their sister franchises in India and the Caribbean and establish themselves as a dominant force in the MLC. The league will kick off on July 13 with a match between Texas Super Kings and Los Angeles Knight Riders at the Grand Prairie Stadium in North Texas.
