MLS’s Twitter made an embarrassing mistake when announcing the signing of iconic Spanish midfielder Sergio Busquets by showing the wrong footballer entirely. On a photo showcasing Busquets’s career trophy wins the account accidentally used a photo of his former teammate Alvaro Arbeloa instead. It was quickly noticed by football fans around the world, and the MLS account would later joke about how similar the two footballers look and comment that the admin needed new glasses.

Sergio Busquets has signed for David Beckham’s Inter Miami, joining former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi. Miami announced his signing until 2025 and the MLS account quickly tried to follow it up with an infographic about everything Busquets has won. Unfortunately, however, the wrong picture was used and the league was left dealing with an awkward situation.

With the quote “all he does is win,” the photo showed Arbeloa kissing the World Cup trophy. Once they were made aware of the error, the account re-uploaded the infographic with the correct photo and joked “why do Arbeloa and Busquets look so similar in these. admin needs new glasses”

Inter Miami presented Sergio Busquets to the fans on July 16 at DRV PNK Stadium and the Spaniard said, "I'm very happy to be part of Inter Miami." Watch his presentation:

After coming through the academy at Barcelona, Busquets has had a truly magical career representing the Catalonian giants. Spanning sixteen years, he made 481 appearances for the senior team and won 32 trophies with the club. Part of a golden generation of Barcelona’s academy along with Xavi, Iniesta, and Messi among others, he is recognized as being one of the greatest holding midfielders in football history.

“I’m looking forward to this next step in my career with Inter Miami. I was impressed by the club when I came with Barcelona last year and now I’m happy and ready to represent the club myself,” he said. “I can’t wait to help bring the success that this ambitious club strives for.” Busquets is set to play his first game for Inter Miami on July 21st against Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup.
