The Pakistan cricket team dealt with a major blow after their star batter Fakhar Zaman was ruled out of the remainder of T20 World Cup 2022. With chances looking bleak for Pakistan to advance further in the marquee tournament, they have announced Mohammad Haris as replacement of Zaman.
The Men in Green, who are currently placed fifth in the Group 2 standings lost their first two games against India and Zimbabwe before winning their third game against Netherlands. The Babar Azam-led side will now play against South Africa on November 3 at the Sydney Cricket Ground before taking on Bangladesh at the Adelaide Oval on November 6, 2022.
However, star batter Fakhar Zaman was already ruled out of the side’s game against South Africa, he has been now officially ruled out of the tournament. It is to be noted that the 32-year-old came into the tournament with a knee issue and the injury aggravated during Pakistan’s ongoing stint at the T20 World Cup 2022.
“Fakhar and the team understood the risks of coming into the tournament and we got him in. You saw how he performed with batting…Unfortunately in the last match, he had a bit of a twist which aggravated his injury,” said Pakistan team’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Najeeb Soormo.
Notably, Mohammad Haris hasn’t featured in any of the matches at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022.
