Star Indian pacer Mohammed Shami continues to sit out as he struggles to get fit after sustaining an injury at the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. Shami, who has been out of action since India were hammered by Australia in the ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad, he continues his recovery to regain complete fitness.

Off late, Shami, who was set to return to competitive action during the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25, was left out as he encountered new injury concerns with swollen knees. However, the Indian pacer is undergoing his recovery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, he also missed a place in India’s upcoming tour for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25

Soon I’m ready to play red ball cricket: Shami

After being snubbed from the Indian squad for the highly anticipated five-match Test series, the Indian pacer dropped his first reaction, as he took to social media to apologise and made his intentions of comeback clear. The 34-year-old took to social media to share glimpses of his training at the NCA, where he can be seen emphasising on strength training and agility exercises.

"Putting in my efforts and getting better with my bowling fitness day-by-day. Will continue working hard towards getting ready for the match and to play domestic red ball cricket.  Sorry to all cricket fans and bcci too, but very soon I’m ready to play red ball cricket, love you all ❤️," he captioned the post.

It is to be noted that Shami, who expressed that he is pain-free and eyeing his comeback in Indian cricket, plans to first feature in domestic cricket in order to make his comeback in India whites. Additionally, Bengal coach, Laxmi Ratan Shukla also confirmed that the Indian pacer is eager to participate in the ongoing domestic tournament before making his India return.
