According to latest developments, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) along with the National cricket Academy (NCA) is closely monitoring India pacer spearhead, Mohammed Shami’s fitness for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, which is underway in Australia. According to reports quoting Cricbuzz, Mohammed Shami is expected to fly out to Australia at some point of time and the Indian cricket body is just waiting for that right time.

As reported, a team from the BCCI Sports Science department along with the national selector, are currently in Rajkot to closely observe the Indian pacers development, who has been out of cricketing action for more than a year and recently returned in Bengal’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024 campaign.

Mohammed Shami likely to fly out soon for BGT 2024-25: Reports

To monitor Shami and keep him in line with the BCCI management and selection panel, Nitin Patel, head of BCCI’s Sports Science wing, along with Nishant Bardule, SS Das have been stationed in Rajkot. The NCA team is assessing Shami’s fitness, particularly checking if he could handle the physical demands of a high-intensity Test match in order to join the team down under.

Furthermore, it is reported that the BCCI will not proceed with Shami until the Sports Science Department gives a clearance. Also it has to be seen that Shami, who is featuring in the SMAT 2024, which is a T20 tournament, cannot appear in Test cricket and would require endurance of a Test match to exactly assess his pace, form and rhythm before flying out to Australia.
