Mohun Bagan Super Giant (MBSG) have criticised JRD Tata Sports Complex’s security and management personnel for their aggressive physical action against a fan, who was bleeding profusely at the stands during the 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL) semi-final against Jamshedpur FC. The match was the first leg of the semi-final and Mohun Bagan will next host Jamshedpur in the second leg in Kolkata on April 7. In the game, Jamshedpur stunned Mohun Bagan and emerged victorious by a 2-1 margin. After witnessing their team’s difficult day on the field, Mohun Bagan fans underwent a pounding from the security personnel.
The videos of barbarism with fans is surfacing on social media continuously and noting that, MBSG has issued a statement to show solidarity with their avid supporters. "We at Mohun Bagan Super Giant strongly condemn the unjust behaviour and aggression of several security and management personnel at the away stand of the JRD Tata Sports Complex on 03.04.2025. We must all remember. Football is nothing without fans," said the club after the game.
In one of the viral clips, fans were seen bleeding after the alleged lathicharge from security personnel. However, another video of alleged MBSG supporters making lewd gestures are also doing rounds.
Javi Hernandez’s goal helps Jamshedpur prevail over Mohun Bagan
Javi Hernandez held his nerves and played a vital role in helping Jamshedpur perform a turnaround against Mohun Bagan at home. Until the 90th minute, the scores were level for both teams but Javi emerged into the scene in the 91st minute and helped his team have an edge over MBSG.
Earlier, it was Javier Siverio, who showcased his mettle in the 24th minute and scored for his team. The Spainard’s onslaught emboldened Jamshedpur’s confidence as they amassed confidence that they could daze the visitors.
