The Indian team suffered their first loss against New Zealand in the first T20I at the JCSA Stadium in Ranchi. The visitors registered a 21-run win as they beat the Men in Blue on the back of an incredible spin bowling performance. The Indian team was put under pressure from the get-go as the Kiwis got off to a dashing start.

Then after losing a few wickets they came back and put on a brilliant finish. The visitors built on this momentum and dominated the Indian batters by taking three wickets in the powerplay. Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya tried to steer the ship but another string of wickets took India out of the game, resulting in the defeat. 

The Indian fans weren't happy with the result and voiced their concern and criticisms on social media via countless tweets. The majority of these were targeting Indian seamer Arshdeep Singh, who gave 51 runs in his four-over spell including the last over of the game where he gave away 27 runs.
